Who we are

Guilford Cares has been working for several decades to make life for everyone in our community more secure and fulfilling. We started by focusing on helping people sent home from Brattleboro Memorial Hospital with equipment and assistance to make that transition smooth and effective. Over the years, we have grown while still doing that job. Today, we operate a food pantry for those needing some help. We provide rides to medical appointments and to the grocery store when needed. We visit people living alone. We make sure people have medical alert systems when appropriate. Recently, we even added a program to help our citizens figure out what they need to take advantage of the internet and all the access it can provide. We still have a home nurse available to monitor medical conditions.

Vermont has an older average age than most states. We want to ensure our senior citizens are supported and have all the services they need to live safe and fulfilling lives. We frequently hear our volunteers say that helping out Guilford Cares seems to bring them more joy than they can deliver to others. That is probably not true, but you get the idea.

We have tried highlighting all of our programs and services on this website. The Board of Guilford Cares meets monthly to evaluate our efforts and make plans for the future. Board meetings are open to anyone who wishes to attend. A list of the Board Members lies below.
